1N5GWGene40-49 Deg FSingle Op Field4119037392Using a pneumatic tennis ball antenna launcher I put up a 108' doublet 45' over two tall pines. My KX3 was cranked down to 900 mW and hooked to a HB balanced L network tuner in the back of the bed of a John Deere Gator. 40 & 20 were both in fair shape. I snagged only 9 FYBO'ers - the rest were QP, SOTA, POTA or DX including France & Finland. I had a great time!
2AB9CA/7Dave50-64 DegSingle Op Field 4923018032Used my ATS-3 to a vertical. Power was an 8 pack of AA batteries. The ATS-3 puts out about 3w with this power source. Set up in Saguaro NP and ran POTA along with FYBO. Heard K7TQ and NE5DL early but neither heard me. Did work NE5DL later. Worked a few in the MNQP and the BCQP. Heard some in the VTQP but did not log any. On the air for about 3 hours. Great day!!!!

Operated from Yuma, AZ just several miles from the confluence of AZ-CA-MX.
10am Controlled Wildfire Burn N of Yuma required de-activation for 2 hours due to extreme smoke. Highlight: wrkd K5JS/M in LA. Mobile QRP...who does that John ??? :-) Thanks fellas for the Q's 72, Steve
4W0ITTGary Freeman30-39 Deg FSingle Op Field 1281003172Worked 2 hours at the start of the event with low 30's temperature - no problem. Then the north wind picked up and I FYBO'd. Not really, but I was shivering so much I couldn't use my key. Now sitting in a warm shack listening to CW. Thanks for a fun event, will be back next year. 72 de Gary W0ITT
5K7TQRandy>64 Deg FSingle Op Field 251402800I operated from overlook into Lewiston, ID and Clarkston, WA. It is a 2,000 foot drop to the five mile wide valley below. A nearly perfect location for terrain enhancement. As late as 10 am PST, I was able to work MN stations on 40 m. Most of the FYBO stations were on 20 m. Wind and rain brought a close to the contest at 1 pm PST.
6WD8RIFEric McFadden40-49 Deg FSingle Op Field  131101716Another fun event!

10K5JSJohn50-64 DegSingle Op Field 650480Ran mobile this year on 40 & 20M with the KX3 and had a great time doing it!! Conditions were great for a change. I didn't have much time, but I was pleased to hear more FYBO stations than I have in a while. I am the designated NQ7RP bonus point station since K7DD had to pull out at the last minute due to a heart attack. Mike is fine now and went home with a new stent today!
11KQ7TJTom Johnson30-39 Deg FSingle Op Home 1240384If Minnesota Counties may be counted as "Unique SPC's" my unique total would increase to 11. Nice WX in Nevada: 32.9 degree F start, climbed to 71 degree F in the afternoon. Station set up outside my house. Rig was Elecraft K1, Pwr 5 W. Antenna 20 M dipole up about 23 feet. Only worked one FYBO station (NE5DL), but had fun!
12NK9G/7Rick McGaver40-49 Deg FSingle Op Field 520240Since conditions were not the best and iffy at best I asked 3 new hams capable of doing CW to jump into the water and use FYBO to increase their speed. While conditions were terrible here in Mesa AZ this gave them an opportunity to understand Contest exchanges and the rhythm to make contacts. We heard many just could not work them we used KX2’s and 817. Antennas were 88’ Doublet and SOTA 20/40/80
13NJ2OMMike Kopacki>64 Deg FSingle Op Home  15140210Only worked 15 QSOs but 14 were FYBO so I'm not too disappointed. This was my second contest (and 1st FYBO) in about 20 years. I worked from inside my garage. There was a lot of QSB and I wasn't able to complete a number of contacts.
14W4QOJim>64 Deg FSingle Op Home 1260144Only worked 3 actually in the FYBO. The others were picked up from State QSO Parties. Loads of fun. Maybe a couple hours of operating. The ones in the state QSO parties were in MN, VT, and BC. KX3@5 watts; yagi; loop.
15KF7WNSGary50-64 DegSingle Op Home 750140Only had a few hours to work this morning. Contacts made on 40 and 20. Sorry to ops who responded to my CQ's on 20, QRN was pretty bad. Happy to meet up with some old friends. Had fun...72 to all
16W2JEKDon Younger>64 Deg FSingle Op Home  66100136Operated from home using commercial power. Only answered FYBO CQ'S.
17WA4AAKEvan McDade>64 Deg FSingle Op Home 33100118Chased FYBO stations from home. Just three contacts, all on 40m. A big thanks to the brave hams in the outdoors, and event sponsors!
18K4BAIJOHN>64 Deg FSingle Op Home  2204Glad to hear and work K1USN and NE5DL. Also sent in my log by e-mail. Not sure if that is required or not. Hope to work more in the next QRP event, which will be the ARS Spartan Sprint Monday night Feb 3 (tonight). 73/72, John, K4BAI
19KU7YRon>64 Deg FSingle Op Home  1101Worked the only station I heard!! I was in my shack, nice and warm and using my new Vizkey vertical bug! Wheeeeee
