N5GWGene20-29 Deg FSingle Op Field361210034660KX3 at 900 mW to doublet. It was an unusually cold morning (22F) for central MS. During the sprint it occurred to me that the best way to improve your score is to operate as a POTA. Everyone comes to you, including multipliers - little time lost with S&P!
K7WXWbill hulley30-39 Deg FSingle Op Field 3521023520I did a SOTA activation for my first FYBO and, in fact, for my first contest of any sort. I started while the temp was still under 40F but the sun was shining and the wind was calm. A good day to be outside! My rig: KX2, antenna: trapped EFHW, key: begali adventurer. I worked four bands over a couple of hours at a picnic table, which was pretty plush! It was great fun!
WD8RIFEric McFadden20-29 Deg FSingle Op Field  3717012580I had a great time this year participating in FYBO while performing POTA activations of two parks. At K-9465, I operated outside, without shelter, and recorded a low temperature of 27F. At K-8633, I operated in the car and watched the thermometer climb from 62F to 75F due to solar-gain.

I'm looking forward to next year!

NK9GRick McGaver30-39 Deg FSingle Op Field 161005120I went Phoenix out to Oakflat AZ (east of Superior AZ). I went here as a last minute deal and was disappointed as it is surrounded by mountains. I like being high although this is 4000’ elevation. Temp was 36 and windy enough to rock the truck, and to say the least I froze my keester off. Called it at about 20Z cause it was dead. I’ll try again next year.

WA5BDUNICK KENNEDY20-29 Deg FSingle Op Field  18903240I operated from my driveway in the snow in Bella Vista, AR. Used the KX3 at 5W and an EFHW on a Jackite 31' pole. It was pretty cold for Arkansas but I guess that's FYBO.
KN3AScott Lithgow20-29 Deg FSingle Op Field  14802240This was my first time participating in FYBO. It was 26F with 30-35 MPH winds on the hill at my POTA park K-1418. Sitting outside for about 30 minutes was about all I could take. My CW keyer was not cooperating today, I attribute it to the cold weather. Took my Xiegu X6100 and Chameleon EFHW with me. Look forward to next year's event.

W1DLCJoan <20 Deg FSingle Op Field 8301152My first FYBO event. With the wind chill factored in, temp was down to 7 degrees! The key kept freezing up.
AB8DFEdward A Kwik<20 Deg FSingle Op Field 540960Used hamsitcks attached to a step ladder in the backyard. Op position was on my back deck. Temp was 13F when i started and got to 17F when I quit at 1:30
K5JSJohn>64 Deg FSingle Op Home  1311100243Condx seemed ok in S. LA with KX3 and endfed 40M ant. 30F outside. Only 4 FYBO Qs. The rest were a mix of SOTA, POTA, MNQP, and casual all on 20M. Called CQ FYBO often on 15M with no results. Late start mid-AM so abandoned the outdoor op and missed a chance at 40M. Stopped early afternoon. Granddaughter duty off and on all day.
W4NLTAndy>64 Deg FSingle Op Home  14120168Didn't heard many FYBO ops so spent the day working SOTA and POTA, occasionally checking the QRP freqs for FYBO. Kept my butt nice and warm-below freezing most of the day.
KK4ITXJohn 50-64 DegSingle Op Field 22064Real quiet 3+ hours, but it got me away from the Honey Do List!
K6NIADave50-64 DegSingle Op Home 1104I was testing a portable EFHW that I just repaired, and I heard someone calling CQ FYBO, so I looked up the exchange and replied. This sounds like a fun contest. Perhaps next year.
