VE3DNEric20-29 Deg FSingle Op Field 4021033600It was sunny but cold here in Ottawa -22F with the windchill. I did not have the courage to go out early in the morning. I went to a POTA park and operated inside my car with QCX Mini (20M) and a hamstick antenna - about 3W or less. Temp inside the car was 23F - hand warmers helped a lot but my feet was cold by the end of one 1hr operation. 40 QSOs and 21 States. 72 Eric VE3DN
NN5DEDave40-49 Deg FSingle Op Field 3819017328Not one FYBO contacted with many CQs, all S&P and CW. So thanks to the MNqp, BCqp, VTqp,POTA and FOC contacts. Started at 45 degs and finished at 71 on the back patio. Used a new IC 7300 MK2 and doing a lot of familiarization. Challenger vertical tuned for 20 M but was able to use it on 4 bands. Started with LFP batteries and finished with Lead Acid ones
N5GWGene40-49 Deg FSingle Op Field2013012480By midday it had warmed up to short sleeve shirt wx (60F), spoiling the freezer theme. But then I was able to tolerate staying outdoors! Unfortunately I never heard any other FYBO ops. Worse still, since the sunny wx was so nice, I became involved in other activities such as planting my veggie garden!
WD8RIFEric McFadden<20 Deg FSingle Op Field 141208064I didn't have much time to participate, but I did have fun. I operated at Lake Logan State Park, with a temperature-at-the-key of 19F. Fortunately, the wind was at my back.
VE3FIBill<20 Deg FSingle Op Field 15906480Today was about as cold as I could take operating outdoors, it was -7.8F, but felt like -25.6F with the windchill. Bands were in good shape, I operated SSB on 10m and 15m and enjoyed myself, it was nice to get outside.

AL7JKJohn30-39 Deg FSingle Op Field 11032Operated for about a hour and half at the Eagle River Lions Park just down the street. There's pick nick tables and plenty of trees to hide a clandestine wire antenna. Worked a contest station participating in the British Columbia Qso Party. Rig is a 20 meters Hilltopper and tuner by 4SQRP, powered by 8 AA batteries. Lots of fun hiding in the brush and snow, stalking 20 mtr cw stns 73 to all !
